The Balance Theory and Loneliness Caused by Consumption

Loneliness Caused by Consumption

The Balance Theory was invented by Fritz Heider in the 1950s. According to this theory, there is a harmony between emotions and social relations. Balance is important in making connections between positive and negative things. With the emergence of modern society, consumption has become very important.

Consumption is the satisfaction of people's needs. In modern society, people now consume unconsciously, in fact, they don't even need the things they buy. The most dangerous of consumption is communication consumption, and then individuals who are isolated from society appear, and this consumption continues constantly. People think that they are satisfied with themselves, but in fact they are consuming themselves. As a result of this, people who become lonely at a young age appear

People have a very crowded environment, but they prefer social media or online chat instead of face-to-face communication because of popular culture. The most important thing to get rid of the loneliness that this consumption brings is family relationships. For example, family dinners, nice activities can be done. At the same time, people should not do what everyone else does just because it's fashionable. If they do what they really want, they will be happy, otherwise they will be unhappy and lonely, because every person is special. Especially young people should protect themselves from loneliness caused by the consumption of relationships created by popular culture.

In conclusion, People want to satisfy themselves and that's why there is consumption, but especially young people unconsciously consume and isolate themselves. In my opinion, when we are trying to make ourselves happy, we are unconsciously making ourselves lonely, making ourselves unhappy and, unfortunately, young people get lonely without getting older.
